New addition to the family today

4 Attachment(s)
I paid about $1,500 for this Benelli M-2. It came with a 5 round magazine, which I might upgrade to a DMW 7 round extender. It has ghost ring sites, which I have never seen before. I also picked up 40 boxes of Hornady TAP 00 Buck for 8 bucks a box - think I overspent for these but what the hell.

Bout 2 grand for the weapon and ammo.

Re: New addition to the family today

Not much I need for the weapon, perhaps a mag extender, a slug barrel, some tritium inserts for the ghost ring sites, and a normal stock (the pistol gip comes right off with a hex wrench).

With the parts above (I figure about $500 bucks) I could turn this from my primary Home Defense weapon to a deer hunting slug gun in less than 3 minutes flat. Or should I just follow the "two is one" line and (gulp) get another weapon...

No matter what I do, I will still keep my trusty browning BPS 12 gauge

That ammo is about 5 bux a box here, but there isn't any left, so maybe 8 bux isnt so bad.

Very Nice...

I'd leave the mag extender off and see how you like the balance w/o it (I prefer shorter 4-5 shot mag ext. on shotguns). Also better to have quality ammo on hand rather than hope to find some "deal" later on.

you think ??????? Give me a used $300 Mossberg 500 and I can achieve equal results.

Yup, no doubt I paid too much. Could have done the "two is one" thing by purchasing two remington 870's. But this weapon is at least as reliable as an 870, or close enough so that the diff would be insignificant. List on my weapon is 1,287 - I paid $120 over that (add in the 8% CT sales tax to get to the total). The wait on this type of semi auto is at least 6 months in my area - maybe a 6 shot semi auto will be banned by then, so I'll have a grandfathered weapon. And man do these shoot sweet, I will see for my self this weekend

That TAP 00 buck has a 1,600 FPS velocity - can't wait to see what hip shooting the hornady's feels like.

Beautiful piece of machinery there SS. Badass ammo too. Save it, after you practice with it to make sure it feeds well and all of that. Never shot that kind of ammo but when shooting my 870 I think the Winchester ammo had more kick...

I don't think you paid "too much". Right now - if you aren't getting the guns you have always "wanted", you might not ever get them. Now, if you are randomly buying guys, maybe you could say so.

"Some things money can't buy"

Some people will still hold out and not buy a few guns they have always wanted - if the ban comes along I would hate to feel that way about something I could have picked up.

Someone drop me a couple G's for a sweet AR10 please ;/

Re: New addition to the family today

Rebel,

I really liked your setup with the Seiga 12 - with your pistol grip, you put that thing up to your shoulder or do you just hip shoot only? Does the pistol grip reduce recoil when shooting with the butt of the weapon against your shoulder? Or does using the pistol grip actually increase the felt recoil at the shoulder (all thinks I will find out this weekend anyways, just thought I would ask).

My wife will let me spend whatever, as long as I keep the gun count low. She did draw the line at an M14 or any large rifle. I have a Ruger 10-22, so a slug barrel for this weapon will likely be my large caliber rifle. I am not too worried about being able to purchase a large caliber handgun (like a NightHawk 45 ACP). This semi auto shotty was the weapon that I thought I would not be able to purchase. You cannot have clip fed shotguns in CT, the Seiga illegal here

I have only shot target loads out of my Saiga so far. I just finished modifying it in hopes it will cycle better - and plan to get out in the upcoming weekend to shoot some buck and slugs. Mine were still on order from when I went out shooting the first time.

In other shotguns I have shot, it does help - but I try not to absorb the kick in my wrist - much rather have it hit shoulder. The main thing for me is the stability and control of the weapon...as well as ability to shoot from the hip!

That sucks you can't have them in CT. I just can't get over the restrictions on guns in various states. I thinkt hat shotty is pretty sweet and would be my choice as well.

Poor Boy - Thank you sir!

I'm not sure about the shotgun(which is a beauty btw) but you definitely didn't overpay for the TAP.

00 Buck is almost impossible to find now, let alone high quality stuff like that.

Here is my latest shipment from Natchez.

250 Hornady SST shotgun slugs
250 Federal Game Shok #6 lead
50 Federal Vital Shok rifled slugs
5,000 CCI mini Mag 22 shells

All this for a little less then I paid for my 1 Oz Ultra High Relief coin from the US mint

I just purchased a 24 inch rifled slug barrel for the Benelli, this should come on Saturday. I will keep the 18" smooth bore barrel on that gun. I wanted to keep it loaded with 3 Hornady TAP 00 Buck's and 3 of the Hornady Sabot Slugs for my home defense load.

Would anyone advise against firing the Sabot's using the smooth bore barrel? Is it safe to do so/would this damage barrel? I assume that I would loose some accuracy firing the Sabots from a non rifled barrel. Thanks

That's sexy as hell. Will you take a Black Lab and a size 5 hottie for barter?

I have a 6 + 1 on the weapon. Not sure if I will upgrade that to the largest size, based on some feedback I received above about the balance of the gun. I was thinking about getting the comfort teck stock, but i am hearing that the pistol grip feels about the same. Benelli's have a rep for having a heavy kick, but I can't imagine that I would feel an improvement compared to my Browning BPS pump

Do you shoot Sabot's out of your Saiga12? I cannot purchase a clip fed shotgun here in CT, so this is about the highest capacity I can get.

I am going by Highwayman's recommendation on ammo here. 500 shells for each shotty.

Someone more knowledgeable than I can offer you a better answer, but I believe that shooting sabots through a smoothbore barrel is acceptable, minus the loss of accuracy.
